Deep purple red in colour, full, attractive fruit nose with mineral undertones. Youthful fresh acid palate yet clearly from well ripened grapes. The fruit and the tannins provide texture and weight with plenty of body. This wine has lots to offer now and will develop well over the next eighteen months.
By watching a wine like this develop you can pick up a lot about how wines age. It is always interesting to buy a dozen (with our wines this doesn't hurt too much), drink one a month and watch how it changes from month to month.
Cherries, chalky black currant and plum brandy undertones.
Sweet dough, caramel and coffee.
Good levels of acid which are just starting to soften and mellow. Textured plum and cherry flavours, hints of brandy with a gently puckering finish and reasonable length.
This wine needs full flavoured foods. Good with hard cheeses, aged cheddar, parmesan or pecorino served with dried breads. Roast lamb with roasted onion and garlic! Barbecued lamb chops with some halved fennel thrown in for good measure.
This wine will integrate well over the next year or so and has enough acid, alcohol and tannin to cellar well into the future.
