See our cleanskin #24 2005 Fleurieu Shiraz Viognier.
A very nice cool climate Shiraz (4½ Stars Winestate Magazine and 91 Points from James Halliday no less!) showing fragrant French oak, rich spicy berry fruits on the nose and a fresh, complex, full fruit palate.
This wine is the 2004 vintage release (same winery) of our cleanskin #12 2003 Fleurieu Shiraz Viognier. It is riper, richer, more complex and has more tannin weight than the previous vintage. All of this with some slick and very well balanced oak handling. Secondary fruit characters of spicy lavender and mulberry over chalky menthol highlights show the wines lineage.
Great wine at an astonishing $10.00 per bottle.
Vibrant red with purple tints.
Fresh berry fruits of mulberry and cassis with hints of dark chocolate. Spicy tones of cinnamon, pepper over menthol, basil and chalk.
Sweet pastry, hazelnut and butterscotch.
Mid weight but with fruit richness, firm smooth tannins and unobtrusive acidity. Berry fruits, cinnamon spice with black olive and some complexed herbal mint or basil.
Any rich seafood will go well with this wine. Oysters kilpatrick or baked red snapper are great. More conventionally consume with lamb or pork. Try a pork scotch fillet served with caramelised quince and roasted root vegetables.
Will cellar well up to six years of age.
