Good wine (88 points from James Halliday). This wine has lots of alcohol but equal levels of fruit and tannin blend together wonderfully. Cabernet is the most obvious varietal influence showing on the nose in fact at 60% Merlot this wine is great Cabernet! Solid fruit and fine chewy tannins on the palate all with surprising softness and elegance. A great blend of classic Bordeaux varieties well matured in French oak.
Complex. Salt & pepper, minty herbal Cabernet raspberry and black currant. Chocolate and flinty earth.
Shortbread, cedar and spice.
Nice Cabernet attack with even weighty fruit throughout the palate. Overall very soft. Chewy fine grained tannins and a clean fresh finish leaves a long impression on the palate.
Consume with rack of lamb (served with a red wine glaze made from this wine), Italian sausage risotto, fried chicken livers (with a mild garlic and chilli sauce) or even a pepperoni pizza.
Good cellaring up to 6 years of age and beyond.
